Slowly, Surely

Waking my life up from sluggishness, I trudged downtown this sunny morning, saw some familiar faces and came back uptown to vote for New York's next governor before settling in.

Ever since I've <>returned from Atlanta, I've been a little shellshocked. After experiencing a week of comfort and splendor, I returned to a messy filthy apartment, a housing court date, a backlog of work, a deficit of funds and the barrage of 9/11 hoopla that I anticipated. I really need a spark in my life, right now.

I went back to housing court this morning. I arrived to a line that, due to heightened security, stretched around the building; it moved pretty quickly, though. After I successfully stepped through the metal detectors, I ran into my councilman, The Honorable Bill Perkins! It's always really nice to see him! I reminded him of an e-mail I sent him and he remembered me instantly. Such a delicious man! Anyway, I was there to obtain an Order to Show Cause only to discover that I didn't need one - we are scheduled to return to court next week. That's just enough time for me to gather my funds to FINALLY pay my landlady. Perhaps that will also mean that an actual lease is in my future. I've been fighting to keep this apartment, but one would wonder why following a visit in its current condition. It is atrocious and I am ashamed. I'm trying to snap out of it so I can create an environment I can work in.

And it doesn't help that I feel trapped in New York City this week, forced to behold the cavalcade of platitudes concerning tomorrow's anniversary. *rolls eyes* But I'll survive it, I suppose.

After I left housing court, I stopped by the Apple Store. I really need a laptop. Then I headed over to Kate's Paperie on Broadway. I'm gonna try my hand at the written word and mail some cards to friends and family. I know how much I love receiving unexpected mail that's friendly! Then, heading uptown near Bleecker Street, I ran right into Ken Moody! *swoon!* Oh, what a pleasure it was to meet this beautiful man and to be held in his embrace! Honey, beauty! A beauty untouched by the 20 years that have lapsed since those Mapplethorpe photos, as if time has stood still. I know good black don't crack, but DAYUM! And so humble, such an effervescent and loving spirit! He teaches classes at Crunch and at Equinox, so I can't afford his services. Yet. We will meet again.

I continued through the empty Village (which seemed nicer that way) and took the express back home. Since I was already out, I walked past my house down the the community center and voted for H. Carl McCall to be the next Governor of the State of New York. It was simple and relatively painless. I don't really know that much about him; it's enough that he's a Black man running against George Pataki.

D:

You were on my mind along with my baby (it’s our 2nd Anniversary) and other family members. Hope we can meet up some time soon and that all is well.

And good for you for voting. I also voted for McCall and will be glad to have him as my Governor after all these years of ineptitude under Patooki!

Peace bro…

and donald, don’t forget carl mccall is PHYNE!! He and his wife Joyce make a beautiful couple. She served as Pricipal of my alma mater, Baruch, for one year - 1990-1991, and she was just too ovah with her Chanel, and Fashion Fair, of course!

“…cavalcade of platitudes…” yeah…that pretty much sums it up.

Donald, you are welcome to grace Atlanta with your presence anytime. Your glowing face seemed as if was a fixture here at DIC, complete with martini glass in hand! ;)
